Polite vandalism on the train trestle: "Have a Wonderful Day"

Yum?

Marta and Sasebo's Crazy Cat Lady

We were walking through downtown Sasebo looking for a place to eat dinner. We'd had good luck the night before with a sushi restaurant off the main road and we thought we'd try to find another place like that.
We turned a corner and walked down a small street. A woman was hunched over a stoop. At her feet were four cats, eating canned food from little dishes. She was a hunched little woman in a blue apron. As she turned, I saw she was carrying about five empty cans in her arms. She smiled and asked if I liked cats.

I'm allergic, but it was more polite to just say yes, I loved them.
Thinking she'd found a kindred spirit, she gestured with a large smile to the glass door at my side. Inside, nine or ten cats, big and small, scrawny or plump gazed back at me. The floor was bare, as were the walls. In the corners were more dishes, some without and some without food. As I looked further inside, I saw movement in another room. More cats.

"They're my children," she said. And then she pointed out two toms and one very tired looking "Mama."
Yep, that's a cat lady. In Japan.

Well, where am I supposed to park?
